Sequoyah
Creator
of the Cherokee Alphabet.
He was the only man in history known
to have single-handedly created a
written language. He was the son of
a Cherokee mother and an
English father.
By the 1820's hundreds of Cherokees
had learned the language and in
1824 portions of the bible
appeared in the Cherokee language.
